Alongside

Companionship for older people

No one should feel alone in their own town.

Alongside introduces your parent to a friendly, verified local nearby. Someone for a walk, a coffee, a proper conversation. The kind of company that makes a whole week feel different.

A friendly, verified local nearby, for a walk, a coffee, a chat.

Our mission

We’re here to end the lonely week, one short walk at a time.

A thirty-minute walk
A proper coffee
A real conversation

Alongside isn’t a care service, and it isn’t a dating app. It’s a friendly, verified local who lives nearby, and would love to share the small, ordinary things that make a week feel full again.

A gentle start

It starts with a walk.

Then a coffee.

Then a proper natter.

And before long, a friendship.

Trust & safety

You’re trusting us with someone you love. We don’t take that lightly.

So every part of Alongside is built to feel safe, for the person you love and for you.

Every member is a verified real person.

We confirm every single member with photo ID and a matching selfie. Everyone on Alongside is exactly who they say they are. No anonymous profiles, ever.

You approve every match

Nothing begins until you say yes. You see who you’re being introduced to, and the choice is always yours.

Report or block in one tap

A single tap ends any connection, instantly and privately. Every report is read by a real person on our team.

Conversations stay in-app

No phone numbers or home addresses are shared until the moment you decide you’d like to.

Trusted-contact alerts

Add a family member who can be kept gently in the loop, so the peace of mind is yours, too.

Alongside is not a care service. It’s community companionship: walks, coffee, conversation.

Getting started

Three small steps to good company.

01

Check your town

Pop in your town. We’ll save you a place, and tell you the moment Alongside reaches you.

02

Meet a verified local

We introduce a friendly neighbour who shares the same interests. You approve every match before it begins.

03

Share a walk

Meet for a stroll, a coffee, a proper natter, as often as suits, and always close to home.

Good company lives in your pocket.

We’re putting the final touches to the app. Join your town’s list and we’ll tell you the moment it lands.

Setting it up for someone you love

You can’t be there every day. Now someone kind can.

When you live an hour away, or an ocean away, you still want to know they’re alright. Alongside is how you do that.

Questions, answered

The things families ask us most.

Alongside is free while we launch. Joining is free, and so is being told the day we reach your town. We’ll always show simple, fair pricing clearly before anyone pays a penny, and you’ll never be charged without choosing to.

We’re launching in Guernsey, in the Channel Islands, first, then arriving across the UK town by town. Tell us your town and we’ll save you a place right at the front of the queue for the day we reach you.

Safety comes first, always. Every member is a verified real person, confirmed with photo ID and a matching selfie, so there are no anonymous profiles. You approve every introduction before it begins, conversations stay inside the app, and anyone can be reported or blocked in a single tap.

No. Alongside is not a care service and does not provide personal care, medical help, or housekeeping. It is community companionship: a friendly, ID-checked local nearby for a walk, a coffee, and a good conversation. It can sit warmly alongside any care your parent already receives.

A friendly local who lives nearby and enjoys the same things: a walk, a chat, a proper cup of tea. Every member is a verified real person, confirmed with photo ID and a matching selfie, and you approve the match before anything begins.

Yes, and many families do exactly that. You can join on your parent’s behalf, help them get started, and stay gently in the loop. Your parent always says yes themselves before anything begins, and you approve every introduction, so you both feel comfortable from day one.
